Compare money products without chasing the headline rate
A decision-first checklist for home loans, personal loans, FX and payments.

The number in the biggest type is rarely the whole decision. A useful comparison starts by defining the outcome, then makes every cost, condition and risk visible on the same page.
Home loans
Compare the personalised comparison rate, total amount repayable, repayments, establishment and ongoing fees. Then check the structure: principal and interest or interest-only, fixed or variable, offset or redraw, extra-repayment rules and break costs. Ask each lender for a Key Fact Sheet based on the same loan amount and repayment assumptions.
Personal loans
Check whether the loan is secured or unsecured, whether your intended use is permitted, and how the term affects total cost. Compare the comparison rate alongside application, ongoing, missed-payment and early-repayment fees. The advertised rate may not be the rate offered after assessment.
Foreign exchange and transfers
Compare the amount the recipient gets. Separate the exchange-rate margin from transfer, payment-method and recipient fees. Check how long the rate is guaranteed, how the money arrives and whether the transfer provider is registered with AUSTRAC where required.
Payments
Confirm settlement time, fees, currency conversion and the process for unauthorised or mistaken transactions. Verify recipient details through an independent channel before sending. Urgency, secrecy and unexpected account changes are warning signs.
